Funds is the chief problem facing the Orphanage.
Our commitment alone to mobilize funds to undertake these projects
will yield no meaningful results without external sympathetic support.
May we, therefore, make a special appeal of assistance to you. Give
us the means and we will do the job. It is a job that desperately
needs cash or kind that one can afford to spare - and more.
it is part of our civic responsibility to think
about the plight of these children who cannot have education, a
decent home and joy of parental care. It is from the ranks of these
deprived children that the hordes of pick-pockets, drugs addicts,
rapists and arm robbers spring. Society have better look after these
kids, or society is going to become their victim. Individuals must
become coneerned and involved. Business and Industry should be urged
to provide expanded shelters and professional care for them. Society,
therefore, expects us to do our best to look after these children
and bring them up under our supervision.
Today, practically every person with influence
and of prominence in government and in private practice has the
means to adopt, feed and clothe a deprived child; help him feel
the warmth and comfort of home through the Teshie Orphanage.
What is even more important, is that children should
feel our sincere desire to support thern in the difficult period
of their life, get the feeling that someone is ready to offer them
a helping hand. But for the old folks, they will have privacy at
least, companionship in communal rooms, relaxation in gardens, peace
when they want it but kindly supervision and help when they need
it. This, indeed, is our humble appeal.
A child loved learns to love. An older person,
cherished and belonging, is spared loneliness. God loves a cheerful
giver.
